Yes, we have a PUPPY!
I know, most of you know that I LOVE dogs but haven't been ready to get one of our own and Steve definitely didn't want a dog either.
Okay, so last Friday night Steve and I went out to celebrate our 10 year anniversary of when we were engaged (yes, we celebrate EVERYTHING at this house). We went to dinner and then had to pick up a few things at the store, I wanted to go to Smith's, but we decided that since we were already close to Wal-Mart we would just run in there. If any of you shop at the AF Wallie, you know that there are ALWAYS people out selling puppies, this night was no different. It wasn't the usual sign that I see there and we saw that the sign they had said that they were Beagle pups - Steve absolutely LOVES Beagles, so we stopped to look.
Low and behold Steve fell in love with this little guy they had named Red Baron. After about an hour of talking to the family that were selling the pups (pups from their own dog - not puppy mill dogs), we decided that he was ours. We took him home, the kids woke up in the morning to a new friend and fell in love too! One thing that we did not take in to consideration is that with Caden's asthma and allergies, getting a dog would not be the best thing for him - coughing, sneezing and red eyed Caden was allergic to the new pup.
We decided that the best thing to do was to give the pup back - we were devastated! The kids hated us and Steve and I felt like the worst parents ever! Jaxen said that he was never going to forgive us and Caden asked Steve why he likes to trick - just like pouring salt into an open wound! All of Sunday was horrible after giving him back - suppose to be a great fathers day and it just wasn't.
On our way home from a BBQ at my parents house, I decide to call and get some kind of closure about our sweet puppy. If he was sold (which Steve knew for sure he would be), then I would have to get over it, but if for some reason they still had him - there would be hope. I called and he was the only puppy that they hadn't sold sitting at Wal-Mart til 10:00 Saturday night. We couldn't believe it! We drove to their house at 10:30 Sunday night to pick-up little Rosco. It was meant to be - the kids LOVE him so much and he is the first thing that each of them asks for when they wake up. Livi's doesn't even call for me any more to get her from her bed, she calls for "Puuuuppy!"
Even though he is TONS of work, he is well worth it!

He's back?? How's Caden doing?
Is Caden okay with his allergies?
Taylor is going be jealous!!
He is SO cute! Hopefully Caden's allergies will get used to him. Have fun!
He is adorable! We have been toying with same idea but I have yet to make the jump.
Oh I bet the kids are loving the dog! Does caden still have allergies?
He is so cute even though I am not a dog person. I guess I would be if they would stay that cute and small. Easton has really bad asthma and allergies to everything and Devin has a German Shephard that he is so allergic too! That is a great story though. Happy almost 10 yr. anniversary I can't believe it....isn't it in August??? Anyway I have been meaning to call you, I shall do it tomorrow.
I am totally shocked. I never would have thought that you would get a dog. We had a puppy before Jaxon was born and the boys loved him. Chandler is allergic to dogs as well but after a few months his allergies went away ( he use to get little hives where the puppy would lick him) Now he has no reaction at all to dogs that he has been around alot (ones at the grandparents houses) My boys are the biggest puppy lovers so there is no easy away around the allergies when they play with the dogs no matter what Chandler doesn't avoid them at all he mauls the poor things. Needless to say we sold our dog just before Jaxon was born. I kind of regret that whole decision. Congrats on the new puppy. He is so cute.
Oh my heck! I cannot believe my eyes! He is the cutest puppy I have ever seen. I am really allergic to dogs as well, I take allegra and it works great.
btw, Jill and Ty are adopting a baby he is due July 31st. That means they babies will be 4 months apart.
Better you than me! :) I'll just come down and pet his floopy, velvety-soft ears when I get a craving but I'll let you take care of the walks, potty training, chewing issues, etc. This has worked out perfectly!!
He is so cute! Good luck!
