These are the words that I kept telling myself over the past 8 days while we watched my 4 nieces. My sister and brother-in-law went to Hawaii for a week (turned into a little longer than that with all the 'standby' fun at the airports).
We got to watch my nieces, and I have to say that having 7 kids wasn't that bad - I know that many of you are surprised to hear me say that, but it really wasn't - and no, don't think that just because me having 7 kids for a week and thinking that it's "Not that bad" means that I want another one.
We had so much fun! Steve set up the tent in Olivia's room for the 3 middle kids to sleep in (which I thought was a crazy idea at first, but the kids LOVED it!) We put the 2 little girls and the 2 big girls in the same room, it was squishy, but cozy.
My two oldest nieces, Kaitlin and Kellie are such great helpers. Steve took them to a movie one afternoon, and I went crazy having the 5 little ones by myself, I wouldn't have made it through the week without them. They entertained the little ones quite a bit, always playing games with them (Kellie) or letting them make beaded crafts (Kait). They helped me so much.
We went to the park a few times and went swimming at my brother's pool, but the most adventureous day was when I ventured out to Costco with all of them, we had been at the house for days and we needed to get out, we chose Costco because 2 kids fit in one cart - it was CRAZY!!! We made it through with only a few cuts and bruises - hope your leg feels better soon, Kait - she got ran into with a cart by her sister, luckily that was the only mishap.
I don't think that I have ever made more treats in a week than I did this week. We made 2 batches of Rice Krispy treats, 2 batches of brownies - Batman Brownies (BMB's), ate Ice Cream and Popcorn several times, finished a plate of cookies from a friend in one sitting, and I am sure that the list could just continue, but I will stop there.
We had a late night every night - some later than others - 3:00 in the MORNING! But I LOVED being able to spend time with my older nieces once the 5 younger kids had gone to bed - they are such beautiful and funny girls. I laughed a TON this week and I am going to miss having them here. This morning I didn't know what to do with myself only having 3 kids to get up and ready.
Oh, and don't worry, my sister is going to be watching our kids next week while Steve and I are in Chicago - PAYBACK!!!

It sounds like you guys had a blast! Did Celene just get back on Monday? That's crazy!
I'm glad you survived.... I knew you would though, Celene's girls are a piece of cake! They are such good girls. I hope no one went home with cavities.
You brave, brave woman! I'm glad you survived! But it sounded like you had it all under control. It always helps to have the older kids to entertain the younger ones.
You are really nice to do that and I guess crazy!! How fun you guys get to go to Chicago, you probably get to go to alot of fun places since he flies.
You are a great sister! Why can't you be MY sister?? If I left my kids with any of my sisters, they'd be dead by the end of the week.
I'm very impressed that the hair was done.
Love ya
So, you survived? Cool. When are WE going on our big vacation...
Yay! I found more blogs to read. What an adventure. I'm amazed it's over and you have happy thoughts about it. That's a good sign :)
